Prometheus in Athens

ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE HE WILL DRIVE WITH HIS FAMILY TO “ATTIKI” SUBWAY STATION, GET ON THE RED LINE TO AKROPOLIS AND WALK THE REST OF THE DISTANCE.

 

Giorgos lives with his wife, his two children and their two dogs in their house in Kamatero. Although his father is from Cyprus, he never travelled abroad (not even to Cyprus): “I'm too afraid to travel abroad,” he jokes.
He grew up in the area of Agioi Anargyroi and when he got married he moved to Kamatero: "I never went to university, all my knowledge is gathered from the street. I’m currently working as an aluminium fitter, but I have done 32 different jobs, every kind of manual work imaginable. I even built the house we live in. It has three floors, but needs some more work to finish".

"Sometimes I feel like the “166” of my neighborhood (the phone number for emergencies in Greece, like the 911): when someone needs something, he will come to me and I’ll start running".

He once owned the motorbike of Savvas Xiros until it got stolen.

“Ancient drama? What colour does it have?” he jokes. “But I like Prometheus; he sacrificed himself for a good cause”.
