An Enemy of the People in Oslo

I work as an advisor for the environmental NGO Bellona.

I belong to the environmentalists, the unmusical, the fathers, the fjord users, the park users and the dock boys but I do not belong to the greedy, the over consumers, the superficial, the ignorant or the dishonest.

There are several reasons why I live in Oslo. It gives me an opportunity to realize both my professional and private wishes and ambitions. Furthermore it’s the Norwegian capital, and it is a city I like very much. I like that it has so many green lungs, the fjord, the forest and that I have a big and good network here. I do believe I live here in ten years.

To me “The strongest man in the world is the one standing the most alone” means that if you are going to change something, you have to dare thinking your own thoughts without taking into consideration how others perceive you. You need to peel away everything in regards to your comfort. I think if you want to reach people with an honest message, first and foremost you need to be honest with yourself.

I see myself turning to and fro something several times in my life. For a long period I think I had turningpoints at four-year intervals; I could look four years back and surprise myself with where I was in my life just four years after. When I was about 18 I moved to Lofoten to become a fisherman, which to my fourteen old self would be unimaginable. Four years later I had become an environmentalist. Four years later on I was a family man and a father. This was something that was very far away from my reality four years earlier.
