ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE YANNIS KOUFALIS WILL DRIVE FROM AIGALEO TO REACH IERA ODOS IN ORDER TO EXIT ON PIRAEUS AVENUE AND TAKE A RIGHT TURN TOWARDS THISEIO.  THERE HE WILL TAKE THE PHILOPAPPOU PERIPHERAL ROAD TO THE ACROPOLIS AND PARK VERY CLOSE TO THE ENTRANCE OF THE HERODION THEATRE.

 

Yannis Koufalis was born in Piraeus next to the port, from an Italian mother and a Greek father from Galaxeidi, 500 years after the fall of Constantinople.  He is divorced with two children and two grandchildren.
When he was young he changed seven schools because his father worked in the navy. «I wanted to be a seaman but my father didn’t agree.»  He worked since the age of 14 in coffee shops, ship yards, 32 months as a sailor, owned a shop with cosmetics, a shop with toys and was a supermarket manager.  From the age of 26 he suffers from multiple sclerosis and is in a wheelchair.  As his life changed, at the age of 35 he decided to study Hagiography and became a painter.  He got part in several exhibitions.  Also as a hobby he often plays theatre that he never believed he could do so.  Because of the crisis he stays at home, not working. “I believe that nothing happens without work.”
He wonders if he bothers people and feels that he doesn’t make them eager to meet with him because of his state. “The world isn’t made for people who are ‘different.” Right now he is quite angry at the situation of the city but he is a city ‘cockroach’, and will stay in Athens.  

He would connect with Hephaestus because he is a technician and a creator under any circumstance.
