“My parents grew up in a small village in Bulgaria and were neighbors. The yards of the houses were connected and it wasn’t necessary to go on the street to go somewhere: you just crossed your neighbors yard. That shows how much people felt close to each other. ”
Everybody knew how to do things with his hands, e.g. I learned how to build a house. There was no money and why should you assign someone else to do something, when you can do it yourself?
In my dreams I remain a 9 year old girl: it’s like I never grew up.
Although I was raised to become an actress, at the age of 23 I went to Veliko Tarnovo to study ethnography. At the same time, I worked at different paper and furniture factories.
In 2001 I came with my son to Athens. My mother, who was already here, found me a job as a cleaner for Η.S.Α.P. (Athens Piraeus Electric Railways).
I soon got involved with the union, defending our workers’ rights.
On 22nd December 2008 two strangers attacked her, throwing vitriolic acid on her face.
