I TRAVEL IN MY DREAMS
NAME : MARTHA THEOFILOPOULOU
AGE : 66
PLACE OF RESIDENCE : KALLITHEA
BIRTHPLACE : ATHENS
ORIGIN : TRIPOLI ARKADIAS AND ZAKYNTHUS
ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE SHE WILL TAKE THE BUS THAT'S GOING TO LEAVE FROM THE K.A.P.E. KALLITHEA (SENIORS DAY CARE CENTER) AND DRIVE THROUGH ELEFTHERIOS VENIZELOS AVENUE, LAGOUMTZI, FRANTZI, ZINNI, ZACHARITSA AND ERECHTEIOU STREETS TO REACH THE HERODEION THEATRE.
Martha was born in Athens, and grew up in Kerameikos, a traditional, old neighbourhood. When she was young she used to go to the open-air cinema. She studied economics in the Greek University (ASOEE) and worked for 28 years as a chief economics assistant to the CEO at a very famous toy store, the only one, back in the day, called MINION.
She is a widow and has two sons. She got on pension at age 52, and since she takes painting lessons and surfs in the internet. “I don’t visit the elderly home so often. If you are used to working, to sit and drink coffee doesn’t do much for me.”
It impresses her that in the ancient times people used to travel in Greece in order to see those huge open air theatres. “People used to go much to the theatre. A theatre that originates from Greece.”
She remembers Antigone and Ifigeneia en Avlidi from school. The Hero figure really charms her. She believes in a sacrifice for a good cause and she would identify with Prometheus because “we are all victims of power.”
