"Situation Rooms" is the point at which the new wars intersect: the soundtrack, with voices from Syria, Africa, Israel, Germany, India, Russia and Switzerland, that draws together people whose lives are defined by weapons.
In the globalised world of the arms trade, the coming together of members of governments and refugees, of profiteers and victims, and of demonstrators and soldiers leads to unexpected overlaps and new questions. Free of simplistic moralising, Rimini Protokoll offers the listener the chance to adopt the different positions as if they were character masks, trying them on and seeing how it feels to be inside a particular individual’s skin and inside their logic.
"Situation Rooms" was originally performed as a multi-player video piece at the Ruhrtriennale in August 2013. For WDR, Rimini Protokoll have developed a radio production using the acoustic material from their performance.
